I’m not much of a Shandy guy.
For what it’s worth, I’m not even much of a Shandy girl, if you can believe that.
I’ve tried a few different ones, here and there, they just aren’t a style that usually does it for me.
The moral of the story is: I generally don’t pick up this type of beer to try.
I’m pretty sure there was a similar moral in ‘Aesop’s Fables’, something involving a Tortoise and a Hare, but don’t quote me on that.
The label drew me in on this one, and since I had never tried a brew from The Traveler Beer Co. before, I grabbed it off the shelf.
I mean, come on, it’s called ‘Jolly Traveler Winter Shandy’.
Who doesn’t like a Jolly Traveler?
It definitely didn’t hurt that it’s brewed with Real Orange and Holiday Spice.
I’m a sucker for any beer brewed with orange.
Some are good, some aren’t, but I’m always willing to try a new one.
I was pleasantly surprised, to be honest, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this one.
Jolly Traveler wasn’t as sweet as I had imagined it would be, and that’s definitely a plus in my book.
There’s a nice warming sensation as it goes down.
This is the type of brew you can enjoy a few of in front of your fireplace on a cold night.
So that’s exactly what I did.
