This is one of those beers I wasn’t sure if I should grab. I mean, Stone Brewing Company hasn’t let me down yet, but you never know. Mocha isn’t really my thing in general, let alone in my beer.
Still, I couldn’t resist, and brought home a six pack to try.
I had one, and wasn’t really sure how I felt about this brew, I just knew it was definitely “Different” from most of the new beer in which I partake.
I waited until the next night, which is now, to try a second one.
I like it, I must say.
For me, I only got a hint of the coffee/chocolate smell. (You know, when I put my nose in the glass like I’m a Connoisseur or something.)
With this one though, it’s the linger after a sip that gets you, it’s almost like it coats your tongue with goodness.
Stone ‘Mocha IPA’ goes down tasty, and if the label didn’t say it, you wouldn’t believe this baby was 9% ABV.
Seriously. It is.
The Straight Hops: I was torn between 3 and 4, as we weren’t smart enough to devise a middle-ground rating system, but…
I’ll have to round up and give this brew a 4 out of 5 Keg Rating.
