I don’t like Grapefruit.
It’s a personal preference, but one I’m quite happy with in life.
Does that make me weird?
Maybe, but I’m fine with that.
That being said, the idea of drinking a beer brewed with grapefruit, that’s never really appealed to me.
That brings us to a bomber of Southern Tier ‘Tier De Garde’.
The label got me.
It just looked cool, you know?
I read the part that said “Belgian Style India Pale Ale”.
What I didn’t notice was where it said “Ale Brewed With Grapefruit Peel”.
The rims on the bicycle are grapefruit slices, that should have been a dead giveaway, but I didn’t pick up on that either.
I’m not the brightest, apparently, but you probably already know that…
I already had ‘Tier De Garde’ chilled, so I figured what the hell, I’ll give it a go.
Beer brewed with grapefruit is okay in my book.
It wasn’t overpowering at all.
The tartness was just enough.
This brew went down pretty smooth and tasty, with a little bite at the end.
The Straight Hops: 3 out of 5 Kegs
Guess I’ll be trying more of this style in the future.
