Sam Adams “Nitro” Event

What to do on a random Thursday night? Take a trip to Atlantic City, of course.
We generally go to The Tropicana, and this time was no different. There was a bonus this time around though.
Sam Adams was having a launch party for their new line of “Nitro” beers at Firewaters, which is located inside The Trop.
I generally have a couple beers there anyway so it worked out great.

Since it was a Sam Adams theme, I ordered a ‘Boston Lager’ for my first Sam beer. It felt like the right thing to do, plus I hadn’t had one in quite a while.
There probably isn’t too much to say about Sam Adams ‘Boston Lager’ that you don’t already know.
It’s a good beer, obviously. The taste is good and it goes down smooth.

Then I got to talking to the Sam Adams rep who was running the event. We’ll call him “Chase”. His name is actually Chase, I just wanted to say we’ll call him “Chase”. We talked a little beer, and he brought over a couple samples from their new Nitro lineup: Nitro Coffee Stout & Nitro IPA.
I tried the ‘Nitro Coffee Stout’ first.
This is a style of beer I never used to partake in much, but the more I try, the more I enjoy them.
No different with this one. It was good. There was a nice roasted/warming taste to this beer. Perfect for a cool night in front of the fireplace. I’ll most likely pick some up to enjoy at home.

‘Nitro IPA’
Here we go. The one I was really looking forward to trying. The ‘Nitro IPA’ doesn’t disappoint. It’s definitely bold, clocking in at 100 IBUs, but doesn’t kick you in the teeth with bitterness. It’s got a nice bite, but surprisingly smooth at the same time. This is one I’ll definitely be grabbing in the future. At 7.5%, I should probably stick to just the 4-pack in a night, but we’ll see how that plays out.

I finished off my night at Firewaters with a Sam Adams ‘Cold Snap’.
I enjoy White Ales, and this isn’t the first ‘Cold Snap’ I’ve had, nor will it be my last. The spices and the citrus flavors just work well with this brew. It’s seasonal, so get it while you can, I know I do.

Full Disclosure: I finished the night with two ‘Cold Snaps’. It happens.

I like beer. I drink beer. Sometimes, I even review beer. If I feel like it...
