Old Jubilation Ale “Winter”
By Chris Anderson @Essau1969
I figured since it is that time of year a Winter Seasonal would be in order. Today I am reaching for “Old Jubilation Ale” from Avery Brewing Company. This beer is considered a “English Old Ale “and labeled “Winter”. This brew comes is a festive can, that is red, green, with a winter scene to get you in the mood for the holidays and into the cold winter. I poured a glass and sat down in my living room next to the Christmas tree. The color is a magnificent mahogany and I was really stoked about choosing this beer. The taste is lovely with hints of hazelnuts and a mocha almost toffee like finish. This beer has no spices added to it but yet has a perfect blend of specialty malts that give it that winter brew taste. This beer is made to be sipped and enjoyed along with huge cuts of meats and or soups that have spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.
Bullion hops are used along with two-row barley, Special roast, Black chocolate. With the OG coming in at 1.074 and the ABV finished at 8.3%, this beer will definitely warm you up. The IBU’s come in at 45 so even people that do not like bitter beers can enjoy this one.
I honestly can say, that I LOVE THIS BEER!!
I give it a 4 out of 5 Keg rating.
Drink it up, this one’s for you.
