Narragansett Lager

About a month or two ago I was browsing in the beer aisle, as I often do, looking for something new for the night. I saw of group come in and grab a couple 30-packs of Narragansett Lager. At the time, I couldn’t figure out why it sounded familiar to me, so obviously I looked it up real quick.
It was Quint’s beer from Jaws!
I should have realized, but it’s been quite awhile since I’ve seen that movie, so I gave myself a pass for not knowing.
Even though Quint is super awesome, I still didn’t pick it up that night.

I did last week. Not a 30-pack, mind you, that’s way too many for a beer I’ve never tried. I grabbed a six-pack of their 1937 retro cans. For $3.49, I was willing to roll the dice on Quint’s beer!
Then the true test came, I cracked the first can…
I was pleasantly surprised, to be honest, as I wasn’t expecting much from this brew.
Narragansett Lager is fairly crisp and refreshing.
I could see myself drinking quite a few of these the next time I went “Jaws Hunting”.
Okay, you got me, I’d never go out hunting Jaws. That’s dangerous.
But I’d definitely grab it again for a BBQ and to play some horseshoes.
At their price point, it’s a great deal for a pretty good beer.
Now I’m going to have to try some of the other varieties of Narragansett brews.

The Straight Hops: 3 out of 5 Kegs
Yes, I actually put the movie ‘Jaws’ on and watched it after having this beer.
It was the right thing to do. #ForQuint

I like beer. I drink beer. Sometimes, I even review beer. If I feel like it...

  1. Gansett is my go to beer. I discovered at my niece’s wedding on Cape Cod, I’ve been drinking it ever since. Until recently it was a challenge to find in SJ but now is readily available. Gansett’s other releases are as refreshing and different. Pour one, it’s smooth and crisp. You’ll enjoy and say, ‘Hi, Neighbor!’
