None of us knew what was really going on, if you sit back and think about it.
We were just kind of oblivious, living our lives, drinking our beer.
The hard truth is, we were unknowingly thrust into the middle of a battle, a battle of…
“The Root Beer Wars”.(Insert awesome music here)
Having already tried ‘Not Your Father’s Root Beer’, I was bound by duty to pick up Coney Island Brewing’s latest offering, ‘Hard Root Beer’.
Truth be told, I actually picked up the 6-Pack for @CrazyKegs, I only wanted one to try.
But, the jerk already grabbed it for himself earlier in the day, so here we are.
Well, it poured with a little more carbonation than NYFRB, so that’s something.
This brew tasted like, um, what’s the word I’m looking for?
Ah, that’s it, Root Beer.
Coney Island’s version isn’t as sweet as NYFRB, so that’s a plus in my book.
I could possibly drink two, then be done with it for awhile.
It was fun trying ‘Hard Root Beer’, just to compare the two brands, but this is made more for the “Not-Real-Beer” drinker in life.
Yes, I realize that’s the target demographic they’re going for, and that’s a huge market.
So, I decided to throw a 2-tier Rating on Coney Island ‘Hard Root Beer’, to adjust for this fact.
The Straight Hops: 2 out of 5 Keg Rating
For the “Not-Real-Beer” Drinker: 3 out of 5 Keg Rating
