Double Nickel ‘Pilsner/Lager’

Double Nickel Brewing Company. I have yet to try a beer from this Pennsauken, NJ Brewery that I haven’t enjoyed. They’ve only been around for a couple of years now, but they’re definitely making their mark in the brewing world, so I figured I’d try their Pilsner/Lager hybrid! In a few words: Smooth and tasty. This beer doesn’t taste like the 5.6% abv it boasts, so that’s pretty dangerous, as I could throw back quite a few of these without an issue. I’m willing to take the risk. The StraightRead More

Double Nickel Brewery

Double Nickel Brewery (Pennsauken, NJ) opened their doors in October 2015. Since it’s now almost February 2016, I figured I should stop slacking and get over there and try some of their brews. So I did. They feature 8 beers on tap, and I chose to go with a flight of the top 4 listed on the Beer Menu. The Pilsner 5.6%: Not too shabby. Especially for a Pilsner. I go into this style with very low expectations, but this one was a pleasant surprise. The Straight Hops: 3 out ofRead More

Firestone Walker ‘Pivo’

I’ve been slacking way too long on my alcohol intake. I’ve hardly drank much over the past couple months. (Unless you count Wine, I’ve been a lush recently) This is not acceptable. So I figured on the way home from work tonight I would stop in and grab a 6 pack of something tasty. Here lies this gem. Now let me start off by saying, I’m usually not a huge fan of Pilsners, but they sucked me in with the “Hoppy Pils” on the label. It’s pretty darn good, actually.Read More

Heavy Seas ‘Small Craft Warning Uber Pils’

An Imperial/Double Pilsner? Sure, why not, I’ll give it a whirl. Not that I make a habit of drinking Pilsners, they’re usually fairly blah, but Heavy Seas Beer hasn’t let me down yet. I think it’s the whole Pirate angle they have going on for them. (I’m easily manipulated.) Arghhhhh! Well, ‘Small Craft Warning’ doesn’t suck. You can definitely taste the 7% abv, it has a nice little kick to it, but it’s not totally overpowering. I could probably roll with two before I switched to something else for theRead More

Blue Mountain Barrel House ‘Uber Pils’

No. That’s it. Just no.   The Straight Hops: 1 out of 5 Kegs

Victory ‘Prima Pils’

Oh, The Pilsner. You know, the type of beer you forget about once you discover IPA’s, and pretty much any other craft beer offering. I haven’t really had many Pilsners since the good old Beer Pong days. You know, with 30 packs of “The Beer That Shall Not Be Named”, but I’m sure you can guess. That being said, ‘Prima Pils’ from Victory Brewing was pretty good. This beer went down nice and smooth. For a Pilsner, I’d say give it a whirl, you might just enjoy it. I’m not making a dealRead More

Mississippi Mud ‘Black & Tan’

This brew is yummy. No, seriously, if you are into Black and Tans, you need to get this. My cohort grabbed this for me and I couldn’t just have just a little. I downed the bottle. I’ve never seen it before, and I unfortunately, haven’t seen it around since. But I keep an eye out in all the stores I go to, because I would sure love to have it again. On top of the taste, the bottle is gnarly as heck! If you’re into this style of beer, thisRead More
