NJ (Forgotten Boardwalk) vs PA (Evil Genius) Pt 2

Check out Part 1 here: Forgotten Boardwalk vs Evil Genius Part 1 After getting my New Jersey on, I decided to try a few from the Pennsylvania contender, Evil Genius.  They’re kind of known for their funky pop names like Purple Monkey Dishwasher and I Love Lamp.  They also come up with some pretty unique flavor profiles. My first offering from them was The Files are “in” the Computer, which is a special draft only release.  It’s a vanilla infused Belgian dubbel. Belgians are one of my favorite styles of beerRead More

NJ (Forgotten Boardwalk) VS PA (Evil Genius) Part 1

As I’m sure you’ve gathered by now, I reallllly like a tap takeover. It’s like a very specific teeny tiny beerfest but you don’t have to try everything (but you should try your best) and you remember it the next day.  Well, as if one brewery taking over the taps isn’t enough, Cheers SJ presented this awesome event at Fins in Cape May where there were two breweries taking over taps. It was a NJ vs PA Smackdown and I was rooting for both “teams”.  I am an Army brat,Read More

Coronado Brewing Company Tap Takeover

I love a tap takeover.  It’s a good way to try a bunch of beers from the same brewery without having to actually go the brewery.  If you can, get yourself to one.  In my area, I keep up to date with these events through @CheersSJ (Kramer Beverage Company).  I saw this event coming up at Fins in Cape May and alerted my “crew”.   Coronado Brewing is across the country in California and the chances that I’ll make it to the brewery in the near future are slim toRead More

Carton Brewing Company

Anyone who doesn’t have me on mute on Twitter knows how much I complain about not being able to get all the beer I want to drink down here at the tippy bottom of New Jersey.  Even NJ breweries are hard to come by down here.  Carton Brewing (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) makes some incredible beers and they are very often the brewery that I am trying to get my hands on. Lately, though, thanks in part to some local bars and liquor stores and the best ever beer boyfriend (thanksRead More

Iron Hill Brewery (Maple Shade, NJ)

I went on a food/beerventure the other day with area food legend John Cohl.  (@j_cohl) and our final and most fabulous stop was Iron Hill Brewery in Maple Shade, NJ.  I’ve been to a few Iron Hills over the years, but it’s almost always been after a meal, so it was a huge treat to go and relax and eat and drink….and eat and drink I did.  I decided to start with a flight, as I do whenever possible and I also decided to try some stuff that isn’t normallyRead More

Prairie Artisan Ales: Bomb

My beer boyfriend struck again and sent me this Bomb from Prairie Artisan Ales.  It’s one of those beers you hear about a lot but hesitate to buy yourself because it’s not cheap.  I got lucky by having it come as a gift.  The little Star Wars R2D2 car was an added bonus. Bomb is an Imperial stout aged on coffee, cacao nibs, vanilla beans, and ancho chili peppers. Those flavors might sound crazy and they are.  Individually, they’re some of my favorite things, but I wasn’t sure how theyRead More

Yuengling IPL

You know when you see those annoying polls or questions that go something like “What beer would you pick if you could only drink one specific beer for the rest of your life”? I hate those questions because for one thing it’s silly and not plausible and the other thing is I don’t want to think about a world where I can only have one kind of beer for the rest of my life.  That being said, if I had to choose one beer for the rest of my life,Read More
