Happy Memorial Day! This week, I wanted to share my opinion of one of the more sought after beers to be recently released, Bolero Snort’s Crooked Labulls Double IPA. Most craft beer enthusiasts are aware that Bolero Snort (Ridgefield Park, NJ) is a contract brewer and for the past year, they have enlisted Double Nickel Brewing (Pennsauken, NJ) to brew their beers. Although Bolero Snort has put out very few Double IPAs, Crooked Labulls seems to have hit a home run with its balance of hops and citrus. This probablyRead More
Someone once told me to drink local. Okay, no one actually said that to me, but with all the breweries popping up in New Jersey it’s pretty easy to drink local these days. I’ll be honest though, I didn’t know Jersey Girl Brewing existed until today. (I don’t get out much) Truth be told, I wasn’t a fan of the cost at the liquor store, but I sucked it up to support a Jersey brewery. ‘Rake Breaker’ is a pretty good beer. It’s a hazy IPA, New England Style IRead More
As we are now approaching Memorial Day weekend, beer festivals will be occurring more often than usual. On May 20, 2017, a new beer festival was launched in South Philly named The All-Star Craft Beer & Wine Festival which was held at Citizens Bank Park. This event was advertised as showcasing over 100 vendors, which included: craft breweries, wineries, spirits, and other vendors commonly found at a beer festival. The layout of this event was such that it took place throughout the concourse of the stadium, which was a greatRead More
Double Nickel Brewing Company. I have yet to try a beer from this Pennsauken, NJ Brewery that I haven’t enjoyed. They’ve only been around for a couple of years now, but they’re definitely making their mark in the brewing world, so I figured I’d try their Pilsner/Lager hybrid! In a few words: Smooth and tasty. This beer doesn’t taste like the 5.6% abv it boasts, so that’s pretty dangerous, as I could throw back quite a few of these without an issue. I’m willing to take the risk. The StraightRead More
Looking for a pale ale? Spellbound has what you need. Sometimes you’re just not in the mood for a super bitter beer, and this pale ale does the trick. Smooth and tasty, Spellbound brewed a nice beer here. Knock back a couple, the 5.5% ABV won’t have you stumbling around like a fool. The Straight Hops: 4 out of 5 Kegs

The Straight Hops: 3 out of 5 Kegs Not really a “go-to” style for me, but this is smooth and easy drinking, not to mention this beer is light on the wallet!
