The Elysian Deal

By now, I’m sure everyone is aware that Elysian Brewing was purchased by InBev, which owns Anheuser-Busch. We all know Anheuser-Busch brews those tasty treats such as Budweiser and Bud Light. Yes, I threw up a little in my mouth saying that last line. Financial terms weren’t released as of yet for the deal, but you have to figure it’s a ton of money. Like, stupid rich money. Would I have sold? Hell yeah I would have. Anyone that says otherwise is most likely crazy. Will the quality of ElysianRead More

Elysian ‘The Immortal IPA’

Ok, I’m not gonna lie, I had never tried this beer before, and probably wouldn’t have. But, because of all the buzz I read about them being bought out, I just had to try it now. You know, before they become lost in the shuffle of big beer. I must say though, they make a fantastic brew. Bursts with flavor! It’s ashame they sold out to the big boys though. I would’ve definitely bought some more of this. Overall: 3 out of 5 Keg Rating in “The Sell Out Category”Read More

Forgotten Boardwalk ‘1916 Shore Shiver IPA’

I’ve heard of Forgotten Boardwalk Brewery, just never came across any of their brews. I don’t get out much. Then I happened upon 1916 Shore Shiver IPA on tap. I had to try it, obviously. You could do a lot worse for an IPA. Nice and hoppy, good taste, not overly strong. I’ll have another please. I’m looking forward to checking out the other offerings at their brewery soon. Very soon. The Straight Hops: 3 out of 5 Keg Rating. I’d like to go 3.5 Kegs, but we weren’t smartRead More

Lagunitas ‘Little Sumpin Sumpin Ale’

At the recommendation of @TheTheStraightHops, I picked up a sixer for myself. I haven’t really had too many of Lagunitas brews before, but I must say, this is a fantastic one. From the very first sip, it just goes down smooth. Needless to say, the six-pack didn’t last me very long. At all. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wanted to partake in a few good beers on a Sunday of playoff football. I give it 4 outta 5 Kegs.

Ballantine ‘IPA’

Saw it. Bought it. Drank it. Peed it. Oh, right, you probably want to know how it was. Ballantine IPA wasn’t half bad. No flavors really smacked you in the mouth, but it was drinkable. This beer is definitely not on the level of the upper echelon of IPA’s, though. It clocks in at over 7%, so I wouldn’t suggest pounding too many in one sitting, like I did. Or go ahead and pound them, I was feeling pretty good… The Straight Hops: I’ll roll with a 2 out ofRead More

Yards ‘Poor Richard’s Tavern Spruce’

They were actually talking about this beer on the radio, so obviously I had to pick it up when I came across it at the liquor store. I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into with Ben Franklin’s recipe. But hey, if it was good enough for Ben, you know? I felt like I was drinking a Christmas tree. Is that a bad thing? Not especially. I mean, I’ve only nibbled on a few spruce tree branches before, so yeah, I had a point of reference. Don’t judge. PoorRead More

Troegs ‘Mad Elf’

Don’t drink it. Seriously. You’re welcome. Overall: 1 out of 5 Kegs It’s that bad.
